These are the most advanced coffee filters on the market

Sibarist filters allow to achieve results that adapt to the coffee profile.

"They are the most technical filters on the market," says Ivette Vera about Sibarist filters. "They enhance the coffee drinking experience in a very remarkable way and are fast, clean and achieve a good balance."

Because it already says it in its own concept: specialty coffee bets on the specific in all its facets, from the bean to the cup. This also entails an exhaustive knowledge of the elaborations in order to adjust the variables as much as possible and thus achieve the best results. For example, in the case of filtered coffee, details such as the filters themselves are key and, depending on their material, density and format, influence the final beverage.

"We believe that the filter, like water, is an essential element in the preparation of coffee. Just as today it is unthinkable to prepare good coffee with tap water, the same should be true for filters," says Ivette Vera, director and trainer at The Nomad Academy. That is why we at NOMAD have been pleasantly surprised by the Sibarist filters.

Sibarist is a Catalan company whose responsible and sustainable filters, which do not add flavors to the coffee, have taken into account the speed at which water passes through them. Thus, its FAST filter allows faster extractions that give a more defined flavor profile, allowing finer grinds without over extraction. In other words, it allows shorter times with the same extraction percentage.

"They are ideal for full-bodied coffees with low acidity, or denser profiles, as is the case with Tanzania Korongo. It increases brightness in the cup, improves the integration of body and texture, and provides a more complex balance," explains Vera.

"The filter is an element that has fixed properties with great impact on the entire coffee brewing process," says Joaquim Morató, owner of Sibarist. "Its permeability will determine the possibilities we have during brewing, the contact time between coffee and water during extraction and the volume of particles that will pass through and end up in the cup after extraction." As we can see, the filter defines and limits the flavor that our coffee can have.

Sibarist' s FAST filters have different designs depending on the brewing method, from Italian to V60 or Z1. But Sibarist also manufactures B3 filters, for coffees with high acidity and little body, such as a Burundi Gahahe, which helps to enhance clarity, structure and sweetness, highlighting very well the brightest and most defined notes and taking the coffee towards the most chocolatey and sweet part.

"At Sibarist we try to apply the values that specialty coffee represents and transfer them to the manufacture of the filters: we focus on quality over quantity and we assume that all the elements of the process have an impact on the final result. It is not a single fiber that makes it special, but the sum of factors of the whole process", says Morató.
