Thinking of getting your Q grader, but don't know how to prepare? This course of 3 complete sessions is for you.
The Q Grader program is a certification that will help you to take your cupping skills to the highest level in order to be able to buy green coffee, select roast profiles, give scores, choose varieties and processes and, of course, understand each origin.
The best way to learn is from the knowledge of another Q Grader, in this case, Ivette Vera. She has been working for 6 years in specialty coffee as a barista and QC (Quality Control) of Nomad, besides being the director of The Coffee Academy.
WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INCLUDE?
- Explanation of the Q Grader protocol and the 19 tests on which you will be evaluated.
- Cupping skills: you will learn to differentiate coffees according to their origin and process.
- Sensory skills: Intensity and interaction of basic tastes (sour, sweet and salty).
- Olfactory skills: Through a kit of aromas, we will teach you to group them into their 4 categories: enzymatic, sweet, dry distillation and defects.
- Triangulation: finding the different coffee within the trio.
- Acid tasting
- Quality and defects in green coffee
- Quality and defects in roasted coffee and the types of roasting that exist.
PRACTICAL DETAILS
The Pro Barista: Pre Q Grader course has a cost of 590€ per person and takes place in our roastery located at Carrer Marroc 160, 08019, Barcelona. The schedule is from 09:00 to 17:00, with a lunch break that is already included in the price. The workshop is given in Spanish.
