Course content

- Percolation filter shapes, recommended bed depth, effect of device shape on coffee bed depth and finished brew.

- 7 essential elements of coffee brewing, mill adjustment: particle size distribution and ranges, measuring particle size distribution and effects on brewing, infusion time, filtering methods, effect of water temperature, turbulence on brewing, water quality (origin, recommendations and requirements, alkalinity, total hardness, electrical conductivity, treatment methods, testing) and sensory results in brewed coffee.

- Processing with different methods of immersion and percolation, quantity of pours, quantity of water, calculation of yield.

- Analysis of brewed coffee: describe brewed coffee, yield and soluble concentrations.

- Maintenance: quality and replacement of grinding wheels.

- Bypassing: its benefits and sensory impact. How to calculate, measure and graphically represent the baipas.

Certification is not included in the price

The professional brew course takes place in our Roaster located at Carrer Marroc 160, 08019 Barcelona.

Terms and Conditions

At The Coffee Academy we strive to offer a high quality learning experience to all our students. However, we reserve the right to reschedule the course date or refund the full course fee if the minimum attendance does not exceed 4 attendees. We are committed to your satisfaction and will do our best to accommodate your needs and ensure that you get the maximum benefit from your experience with us.

Cancellation and Punctuality Policy

When you purchase a course, your place is automatically reserved. This means that if you don't attend, you could be leaving out other interested people. Therefore, we apply the following policy:

- A 50% penalty will be applied if you cancel less than 15 days in advance or within 48 hours prior to the course. In that case, only 50% of the total amount will be refunded.

- No refunds will be made if the student does not attend the course or if the cancellation is communicated less than 48 hours in advance.

- Once the course date has been set, no changes can be made, except in cases of force majeure such as illness or accident.

- In situations justified by force majeure (illness, accident...), the student will be offered a place in the next edition of the course. This change can only be made once. If the student does not attend the new date, the money will not be refunded.

- In the case of gift vouchers, these will be valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Clarification: The cancellation policy does not apply for illness or accidents. In such cases, the student may reschedule participation as indicated above.

Punctuality

We ask that you arrive punctually to the course. We will allow a courtesy margin of 5 minutes before the start of the course. After 15 minutes from the start time, students will not be allowed to enter, out of respect for the rest of the participants and the correct development of the class.
