Have you already been working as a barista for more than a year and want to delve into the depths of espresso and the craft? Then the SCA Professional Barista course is for you. Designed to assess advanced skills and deepen your knowledge of the science behind the processes used by a professional barista, this course will enable you to master sophisticated tasting methodology and advanced extraction techniques.

The SCA Professional Barista course is held at Cal Nomad, located at Carrer Marroc 160, Barcelona. This intensive three-day course runs from 10:00 to 17:00, in Spanish, and is designed for those with more than one year of coffee experience. Here is a summary of the course content:

- General knowledge: learn about density, variety and cultivation of coffee beans, processing methods, packaging and degassing.
- Space management and workflow: Optimize your work area for greater efficiency.
- Espresso grinder and machine components and safe use: Discover how to use and maintain your equipment properly.
- Espresso Process: From espresso recipes to calibration, dosing and cupping techniques.
- Espresso Sensory Analysis: Develop your ability to evaluate espresso quality, including organic acids and sensory balance.
- Milk Texturization: Learn about freshness, crema and ideal milk temperature, as well as the factors that affect milk quality and its ability to form crema, and delve into the art of more advanced figures.
- Espresso-based menu: Learn the most common beverages and how to prepare them correctly.
- Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Water Quality: Understand how water quality affects the taste and performance of the machine, including measuring TDS, alkalinity, total hardness, pH and filtration systems.
- Customer Service and Coffee Management: Improve your customer service and management of your establishment.
- Financial Concepts: Learn about costs and asset management.
- The course includes a meal so you can concentrate on learning. However, the exam and the SCA certification have an additional cost of 100€, which must be purchased separately.

- Density, variety and cultivation of coffee beans.

- Processing, packaging and degassing methods.

- Space management and workflow.

- Preparation of espresso-based beverages: dosing, sieving, distribution of ground coffee particles and waste.

- Espresso machine: brewing temperature and pressure, boiler systems and pressure systems.

- Sensory analysis: Organic acids, sensory evaluation and balance.

- Milk: Composition, processing and how it affects coffee flavor, cream quality and stability.

- Factors affecting milk quality and its ability to form cream, proteolysis and lipolysis, effect of coffee acidity on milk, effect of heat on milk, SCA foam standards, SCA Latte Arte standards.

- Water quality: Measurement of TDS, alkalinity, total hardness, pH, water filtration, testing and filtration systems.

- Simple financial concepts of costs and assets.
