- Density, variety, and cultivation of coffee beans.
- Processing, packaging, and degassing methods.
- Space management and workflow.
- Preparation of espresso-based beverages: dosing, tamping, distribution of ground coffee particles, and waste.
- Espresso machine: Temperature and pressure during extraction, boiler systems, and pressure systems.
- Sensory analysis: Organic acids, sensory evaluation, and balance.
- Milk: Composition, processing, and how it affects coffee flavor, quality, and crema stability.
- Factors affecting milk quality and its ability to form crema, proteolysis and lipolysis, the effect of coffee acidity on milk, the effect of heat on milk, SCA foam standards, and SCA latte art standards.
- Water quality: Measurement of TDS, alkalinity, total hardness, pH, water filtration, testing, and filtration systems.
- Simple financial concepts of costs and assets
Official SCA certification is already included in the price.
The Professional Barista Course takes place at our Roaster , located at Carrer Marroc 160, 08019 Barcelona.

Terms and Conditions
At The Coffee Academy, we strive to offer a high-quality learning experience to all our students. However, we reserve the right to reschedule the course date or refund the full course fee if the minimum attendance of 2 participants is not met. We are committed to your satisfaction and will do everything possible to accommodate your needs and ensure you get the most out of your experience with us.
Cancellation and Punctuality Policy
When you purchase a course, your spot is automatically reserved. This means that if you do not attend, you may be preventing other interested individuals from participating. Therefore, we enforce the following policy:
- A 50% penalty will apply if you cancel less than 15 days in advance or within 48 hours of the course start time. In that case, only 50% of the total amount will be refunded.
- No refunds will be issued if the student does not attend the course or if the cancellation is communicated less than 48 hours in advance.
- Once the course date has been set, no changes may be made, except in cases of force majeure such as illness or accident.
- In cases of force majeure (illness, accident, etc.), the student will be offered a spot in the next session of the course. This change may only be made once. If the student does not attend on the new date, no refund will be issued.
Clarification: The cancellation policy does not apply to illnesses or accidents. In such cases, the student may reschedule their participation as indicated above.
Punctuality
We ask that you arrive on time for the course. We will allow a 5-minute grace period before the start. Fifteen minutes after the start time, entry will not be permitted, out of respect for the other participants and to ensure the smooth running of the class. We appreciate your understanding.
