WHAT IS THE EVOLUTION OF A COFFEE PLANT?

-

Have you ever wondered what the life cycle of a coffee plant is like? In this video we explain it step by step.

It all starts with germination: seeds are sown in shaded nurseries, and in 4 to 8 weeks the seedlings sprout.

When the first true leaves appear, they are transplanted into individual bags to strengthen the roots.

After 6-8 months, when the plant measures 30-40 cm, it is moved to the field.

During the first 3 years, the plant grows and develops its structure without bearing fruit. Between the third and fourth year, it blooms for the first time with white and fragrant flowers.

From the fifth year on, it enters its maximum production phase, which can last up to 15 years if pruning and nutrition are properly managed.

Between 15 and 25 years, productivity decreases, and is often renewed by drastic pruning or new plantings.
